Online Counselling Terms Of Service
Online Counselling Terms Of Service
I commit to the following terms of service for the protection of the client, the organization Christian Advocacy Society of Greater Vancouver and myself:
Security Issues
- Formulate client responses in a
confidential setting.
- Never invite correspondence via
email.
- Log out of the system when not at
my computer.
- Store my password in a secure
place.
- Respond to messages using a laptop, PC or MAC but not mobile devices such as iPhone, Blackberry, cellphones or other mobile devices.
Safety
- Refrain from giving medical or
legal advice. Ask clients to take their medical concerns to a medical or
legal professional.
- Keep my personal information
private, such as telephone number, address, city location or email
address. Use your first name only in counselling messages.
- Refer online counseling messages
back to the supervisor if it is outside of my skill level to help the
client or if I have time constraints that prohibit responding to the
message in a timely manner.
- Follow the OnlineCare protocol for suicidal clients provided.
I will contact the Online Peer Counsellor Coordinator when:
- I believe that a client may be
considering violence or harm to others or self.
- I am informed of or suspect abuse
in a client under 18 years old.
- I suspect the client message is a
hoax.
- A client is requesting a face to face meeting.
I agree to honor these Terms of Service for the security, safety and protection of those who will use OnlineCare.
